Specialized Care for Your Child's Smile

Pediatric dentistry focuses on the unique oral healthcare needs of children, from infancy through the teen years. At Clinton Center Dental, we provide comprehensive dental care in an environment designed to make your child feel safe and comfortable.

We believe that early dental visits set the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles. Our team is trained to work with children, helping them develop positive associations with dental care while addressing their specific oral health needs.

What We Treat

Our pediatric dental services include treatment and care for:

  • Cavities – gentle fillings and preventive care
  • Teeth defects – developmental issues and enamel concerns
  • Dental injuries – prompt care for knocked-out or chipped teeth
  • Malocclusion – bite and alignment issues
  • Gum disease – early detection and treatment
  • Speech-related disorders – oral factors affecting speech
  • Tongue tie (restricted frenulum) – evaluation and referral when needed
  • Oral conditions related to other diseases – coordinated care with your pediatrician
  • Mouth guards for sports – custom protection for active kids

When to Start

Your child should have their first dental exam about six months after the first tooth erupts from the gums. After that, we recommend visits every six months to monitor development, prevent problems, and build good habits early.

What to Expect at the First Visit

During your child's first appointment, we will:

  • Examine their teeth and gums for decay and other concerns
  • Ask about thumb-sucking, pacifier use, and daily oral care routines
  • Demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques
  • Discuss fluoride treatments and when sealants may be beneficial
  • Answer any questions you have about your child's oral health

We'll schedule a follow-up visit for six months later, beginning a routine that helps ensure healthy teeth and gums as your child grows.

Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?

Children have different dental needs than adults. A pediatric dentist offers specialized training in examining and treating young patients in a way that makes them feel at ease. Our office is designed with children in mind, and our approach is patient, gentle, and educational—helping kids learn to care for their smiles without fear or anxiety.

Common questions
When should my child have their first dental visit?+

We recommend scheduling your child's first dental exam about six months after their first tooth erupts, and no later than their first birthday. Early visits help us monitor development and teach you how to care for new teeth.

How is pediatric dentistry different from general dentistry?+

Pediatric dentists receive specialized training in treating children and creating a comfortable, child-friendly environment. We understand the unique developmental stages of young teeth and how to communicate with kids in a way that reduces anxiety and builds trust.

Will my child need fluoride treatments or sealants?+

Fluoride treatments strengthen enamel and help prevent cavities. Sealants are thin coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth to protect them from decay. We'll discuss whether these preventive treatments are right for your child based on their individual needs and risk factors.
